Dear Parent / Carer,
Italy Trip June 2020
We fully understand parent’s concerns about the Italy trip due to take place 1 to 4 June 2020. We have been liaising frequently with NST as the tour operator and whilst the government have issued a statement to say that no foreign trips are to take place, we can only obtain a refund under ATOL / ABTA once we are within the 30 day period of the trip’s due date to depart.
On Monday 23 March we are due to pay the final balance to the travel company and from this point the cancellation terms are that we will be liable for more than the deposit in increasing amounts the nearer we get to the departure date.
We have heard from a number of you that you no longer want your child to attend the trip, and as a school we do not want to put any member of staff at risk by asking them to accompany the students. Therefore we believe the best option would be to cancel the trip, and not wait any longer for the tour operator. We will therefore make a claim under the travel insurance policy to obtain a refund of your deposit already paid of £250.00 per person.
As with all travel insurance policies, there is an excess of £100 that has to be paid per person, please click here to view the policy, under normal circumstances you would be required to complete a claim form yourself and submit directly to the insurers. However in this instance we thought it would be easier and quicker, if the college made a claim on your behalf and then reimbursed you for amount that you have already paid less the £100 excess.
If you have any questions or issues regarding this cancelation please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
