SCHOOL production - We Will Rock You - June 2018

19 Feb 2018

REPLY SLIP - for completion and return...

Following the amazing success of ‘School of Rock’ last year, we are pleased to announce we are planning a production of the hit musical ‘We Will Rock You’ to be performed on Wednesday 20th June to Friday 22nd June.

For those of you who don’t know the story, the play is set three hundred years into the future, when the company Global Soft has taken over the world.  Only digitally produced music is allowed and all live music has been outlawed.  A band of rebels, the Bohemians, are waiting for someone who remembers the old music to show them a way of finding the instruments which the rock group Queen hid hundreds of years ago.

Auditions for the production will take place on Monday 26th February and Thursday 1st March, 3.15pm – 4.30pm.  All are welcome to audition and those who are interested in auditioning will need to sign up.  To prepare for the audition, students need to learn the lyrics and tune for the famous Queen song ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love.’

Taking part in a production is a serious commitment - it takes dedication and teamwork.  We want to involve as many students as possible but we need to have students who will be able to commit to rehearsals during lunchtimes and after school.  We will be rehearsing Monday to Thursday lunchtimes and after school on Thursdays and Fridays until 4.30pm.  In addition, students will also be required for weekend rehearsals on Sunday 10th June (pm) and Sunday 17th June (all day).  The number of rehearsals that your child will be involved in will depend upon the nature of the role they have in the production.  All rehearsal schedules will be on the school website, all students must take responsibility in checking the rehearsal schedule and ensuring they attend when required.  A text message will be sent out to all students with any alterations to the rehearsal schedule.

The production will be hard work, but very rewarding.  If your son or daughter wishes to be involved, please complete and return the REPLY SLIP and discuss the importance of keeping to the strong commitment we need from everyone.
