We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to take forty Y9 students to Bletchley Park. The day will be divided into three different activities. We will be taking part in a workshop session on Interception to Intelligence (an interactive workshop exploring the history of Bletchley Park and its influence in the Battle of the Atlantic), having a guided tour by an experienced member of staff and will also have the opportunity to explore Bletchley park individually. Your child has taken part in a maths challenge to be entered for this opportunity and has been granted a place to attend.
We intend to leave school around 08:00 and return at approximately 16:30 (traffic conditions may cause delays so this is only an approximate time). Students should arrive at school in the morning and meet in reception. Parents will need to make their own arrangements for their child to arrive at the start of the day and collect their child from school at the end of the day.
The cost of the visit is £12.00 and we ask parents / carers to make a voluntary contribution for this amount. If we do not receive enough voluntary contributions to cover the cost of the trip, the trip may not be able to go ahead. All payments should be made via ParentPay by Friday 2 March 2018. (Arrangements may be available to support parents/families who are eligible for financial support. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.)
Students are required to wear full school uniform as they will be representing the college and will need to bring a packed lunch and drinks for the day. Please ensure that any drink is carried in a suitable container. Packed lunches will be provided for students who would normally receive free school meals, please let us know beforehand if you would like us to arrange this for your child. There is a gift shop at Bletchley Park, so you may wish to send your child with a small amount of money to purchase items.
The journey will take about two hours. Students who are prone to travel sickness must ensure they sit at the front of the coach. Students who take any form of medication must make the necessary arrangements before the trip and notify the teachers so that any medication can be administered safely.
We expect all students to behave responsibly and safely whilst on the trip and to be polite and courteous at all times. There will be four members of staff accompanying students on the trip and a trained first aider on the coach.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like any further information.
