House system

When students join Ibstock Community College they also join our system of four houses

You will be part of a vertical tutor group and a member of a house. Your house is a community and your behaviour, your involvement and your attitude will reflect on the people in your house and the whole college community. As part of a house, students join a team of staff and students who are an important source of support. As well as house assemblies, where students join together for celebration, students have a range of opportunities to represent their house in competitive sport, artistic events and charity fund-raising.

Students have been responsible for raising money for Children in Need and Comic Relief as well as frequent sporting challenges and competitions.

BRUNEL house - named after Isambard Kingdom Brunel.  Brunel was one of the most innovative designers and engineers in history. His bridges and railways are still here!

DA VINCI house - named after Leonardo Da Vinci. He is thought of as one of the greatest artists of all time. He was also a scientist and had an ‘inventive’ imagination.

NIGHTINGALE house - named after Florence Nightingale. She was a gifted nurse, a writer and a mathematician. She was dubbed the ‘lady of the lamp’ for her night visits to patients.

SHAKESPEARE house - named after William Shakespeare. Shakespeare was one of the greatest writers of the English language. He is famous for his plays and his poems.
